Viola hederacea
Viola hederacea, Native Violet, is a delicate Australian native ground cover producing heart-shaped leaves and small white and violet flowers year-round. Excellent as a lawn alternative in shaded positions and as a ground cover between pavers and stepping stones.
Specifier notes. Used as a low ground-cover layer where coverage rate and root mass take priority over height. A practical lawn alternative on sites where mowing is impractical or water use is constrained.
Site & establishment. Tolerates shade — useful in eastern aspects, courtyards, and sites overhung by larger canopy.
How we supply it. Australian native — useful where Australian native specification is mandated by brief or council. Flowering display adds seasonal interest beyond the structural role.
Cape Nursery production. All Cape Nursery stock is grown 7 km from the Pacific Ocean, hardened to coastal sun and wind from propagation rather than acclimatised at point of sale. Specimens leave us biosecurity-traceable, and root-checked. National delivery is available; collection from Ewingsdale is welcomed Mon–Thu 7:30am–4pm.
